What Is an EKG?
Getting an EKG shouldn't require navigating a hospital system for a simple diagnostic test.
At One Connection Healthcare, we offer in-clinic EKG testing using high-quality portable equipment, making it easier to complete testing ordered by your provider or recommended during your visit.
An electrocardiogram (EKG) measures the electrical activity of your heart and can help evaluate heart rhythm, chest symptoms, medication monitoring, and other cardiac concerns. The test is painless, takes only a few minutes to perform, and requires no recovery time.
When Might You Need an EKG?
Our in-clinic EKG service is available for established patients and outside referrals.
Your provider may recommend an EKG if you need:
Heart Rhythm & Cardiac Evaluation
Palpitations
Irregular heartbeat
Chest discomfort
Dizziness or fainting
Shortness of breath
Medication monitoring
Convenient Outpatient Testing
Routine cardiac screening
Pre-procedure clearance
Follow-up monitoring
Outside provider referrals
Same-day testing during another appointment

What to Expect During Your EKG
-
01. Before Your Appointment
No special preparation is usually required unless your provider gives different instructions. Wear comfortable clothing, and we'll provide a size-inclusive gown or drape for the exam if needed.
-
02. During Your EKG
Small adhesive sensors (electrodes) are placed on your chest, arms, and legs to record your heart's electrical activity. The test itself is painless and typically takes just a few minutes. If you have significant body hair, a small area may occasionally need to be shaved so the electrodes can adhere properly.
-
03. After Your Appointment
There is no recovery time. You can return to your normal activities immediately after your visit. Your EKG will be reviewed by Dr. Michael Manning, and your finalized report will be uploaded to your patient portal within three business days.
