Visceral Manipulation in Ballard, Seattle
Gentle, hands-on visceral manipulation therapy for digestive concerns, pelvic health, scar tissue, chronic pain, and whole-body alignment in Seattle.
Whether you're living with digestive concerns, pelvic pain, abdominal scar tissue, or chronic tension, visceral manipulation offers a gentle, whole-body approach to supporting healing and restoring movement.
What Is Visceral Manipulation?
Visceral manipulation is a gentle, hands-on therapy that works with the body's organs and connective tissue throughout the thorax, abdomen, and pelvis. Using specialized manual techniques, providers help restore healthy movement and reduce restrictions within the body's fascial system.
Every organ is surrounded by fascia—a continuous network of connective tissue that influences how we move, breathe, digest, and function. When this tissue becomes restricted by surgery, inflammation, injury, chronic illness, or prolonged tension, it can contribute to discomfort throughout the body.
Visceral manipulation addresses not only organ mobility, but also how the body's internal structures contribute to posture, breathing, digestion, movement, and musculoskeletal alignment.
While many people think about receiving massage for tight muscles, our organs can also develop tension, reduced mobility, and scar tissue that deserve attention.

Our Clinical Lens, Testing & Treatment Approach
Visceral manipulation supports more than individual symptoms—it helps us understand how the body's internal structures work together as one connected system.
-
Every treatment begins by looking at the body as a whole. We consider how posture, breathing patterns, organ mobility, scar tissue, connective tissue, and musculoskeletal alignment may all contribute to your symptoms.
Rather than focusing on a single symptom or diagnosis, we work to understand how different systems of the body may be influencing one another.
-
Treatment consists of gentle holding techniques, guided movement of the organs, and specialized manual therapy to improve mobility within the connective tissue of the thorax, abdomen, and pelvis.
Sessions are always adapted to your comfort level and individual needs.
-
Restrictions around the organs can influence much more than digestion. They may affect how we breathe, stand, walk, sit, and move.
By restoring healthy movement within the body's connective tissues, visceral manipulation may also support structural alignment throughout the spine, hips, diaphragm, and surrounding muscles.
-
We recognize that the abdomen and pelvis can be physically and emotionally sensitive places to receive treatment.
Our providers explain each treatment thoroughly, encourage questions throughout the visit, and move at your pace. If emotions arise during treatment, there is always space to pause, breathe, and adjust as needed.
What Makes Visceral Manipulation at One Connection Healthcare Different?
Every visceral manipulation session is an opportunity to better understand how your body moves, heals, and functions as one connected system.
We recognize that abdominal and pelvic care often involves both physical and emotional experiences. Our providers blend skilled hands-on treatment with compassionate, trauma-informed care, creating an environment where patients feel informed, supported, and empowered throughout treatment.
As naturopath doctors, we believe understanding your body is part of healing. Throughout your visit, we'll explain what we're noticing, discuss how different systems may be connected, and help you better understand how your body may be healing or where it may benefit from ongoing support.
Our visceral manipulation providers have completed advanced training through the Barral Institute or Greg Yasuda, ND, bringing specialized education and experience to every treatment.
What to Expect During a Visceral Manipulation Therapy Appointment
Appointments generally last 15–50 minutes, depending on your care plan.
-
01. Initial Evaluation
Your appointment begins with a conversation about your symptoms, medical history, surgeries, goals, and any concerns you have about treatment.
-
02. Gentle Hands-On Treatment
Treatment is typically performed fully clothed. Sometimes treatment can be performed directly over clothing, while other times minor adjustments to clothing may be helpful to adequately access certain tissues. Blankets and draping are always available to help you remain warm, comfortable, and covered throughout your visit.
-
03. Ongoing Care & Integration
Visceral manipulation may be scheduled as a standalone treatment or incorporated into a broader naturopathic treatment plan, depending on your goals and overall care.
What You May Notice After Visceral Manipulation
Every person's experience is unique. Over time, patients commonly report:
Reduced abdominal tension
Improved digestion
Greater ease with deep breathing
Reduced discomfort around abdominal or pelvic scars

Less pain throughout the back, hips, or pelvis
Greater awareness of how their body moves and functions
Care That Meets You Where You Are
Trying a new hands-on therapy can feel vulnerable. If you're feeling nervous about treatment, that's okay.
We move at your pace, explain each part of the treatment, and encourage communication throughout your visit. Many sessions incorporate gentle breathing techniques to help the nervous system relax and support comfortable movement.
Our goal is to create a space where you feel safe, informed, and respected throughout your care.
