About Dr. Kinsel

Hi, I’m Dr. Helen Kinsel (she/her), a licensed naturopathic physician providing primary care for patients of all ages in Washington State. I work with infants, children, and adults who are looking for a primary care provider that will collaborate with them in working toward their health goals.

My goal is to create a healthcare environment where patients feel heard, supported, and respected as they navigate the healthcare system. Primary care offers the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients and families over time, and I value being able to support individuals not only during illness but throughout the many stages of their lives.

My Clinical Philosophy

I was drawn to naturopathic medicine because of how it centers the patient experience, approaches health holistically, and offers a diverse range of treatment modalities to support healing.

From an early age, I knew I wanted to work directly with people, and primary care allows me to build long-term relationships with patients and families. In my work, I focus both on what conditions and symptoms need support right now and on how we can strengthen wellness over the long term.

My approach to medicine is firmly rooted in a weight-inclusive model of care, because I believe patients of all body sizes deserve thoughtful, skilled, and individualized medical care.

I practice from a weight-inclusive, trauma-informed, and patient-centered approach. My care draws from a range of treatment modalities while focusing on individualized treatment plans grounded in evidence-based medicine.

I use shared decision-making when discussing testing and treatment options so that patients can make informed choices about their health. I want my patients to understand what their lab and imaging results mean and to feel confident asking questions and participating actively in their care.

Our appointments are designed to allow space for discussion, curiosity, and collaboration so that treatment plans truly reflect your needs and priorities.

My Care Model

Clinical Experience

I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Washington before attending Bastyr University, where I earned my Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine in 2020.

After graduating, I spent two years working at a busy naturopathic pediatric and family medicine clinic in Kenmore, Washington, gaining experience supporting patients across all ages before joining One Connection Healthcare in January 2023.

My clinical work focuses on supporting patients of all ages for wellness care, chronic conditions, and acute illness, with a particular emphasis on newborn, pediatric, and adolescent healthcare.

In 2024, I joined the One Connection Healthcare residency program as one of the residency directors, helping support the training and education of our resident physicians. This means you may occasionally meet residents or medical students during your appointments. I find that teaching and mentoring helps keep my medical practice curious, thoughtful, and continually evolving.

I am a member of:

  • Association for Size Diversity and Health (ASDAH)

  • Pediatric Association of Naturopathic Physicians (PedANP)

  • Naturopathic Academy of Primary Care Physicians (NAPCP)

I regularly participate in continuing education in pediatrics, eating disorder care, primary care, and hormonal health so that I can stay current on the needs of my patients.

What Keeps Me Joyful

I grew up in Seattle, Washington, and have always loved the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Spending time outdoors, exploring Washington and Oregon, and taking a deep breath surrounded by trees helps keep me grounded and connected to the world around me.

My husband and I welcomed our son in the spring of 2025, and getting to know the newest member of our family has helped me appreciate the simple day-to-day joys of life in a whole new way.

On a rainy weekend day, you might find me playing board games, reading, or snuggling with my two cats. During baseball season, you’ll likely find me cheering on the Seattle Mariners while enjoying peanuts at the ballpark.
