Hi, I’m Kristy Fassio (she/her), a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Body Trust Provider® offering therapy for adults navigating body shame, Binge Eating Disorder, identity exploration, and relationship with food and body.
I work with people who are tired of trying to earn worthiness through shrinking themselves — physically, emotionally, or relationally — and are ready to build a more connective, compassionate, and values-driven relationship with themselves.
Together, we create space to challenge old beliefs, build new ones, and foster the kind of self-compassion that allows meaningful change to happen over time.
What might you discover about yourself if you no longer had to follow the rules a thin-obsessed society laid out for you?

BODY LIBERATION THERAPY ROOTED IN COMPASSION, CURIOSITY, RELATIONAL CARE, AND RADICAL PERMISSION TO EXIST FULLY AS YOURSELF.
Kristy Fassio, LMHC
BODY LIBERATION AND BINGE EATING DISORDER THERAPIST
Kristy works with adults navigating body shame, Binge Eating Disorder, identity exploration, and relationship with food and body through a liberatory, relational, and non-judgmental approach to therapy.
Meet Kristy Fassio
My path into counseling began long before graduate school.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent years teaching Kindergarten, teaching fitness to new moms, raising kids, and quietly fighting my own eating disorder. Working closely with moms, I saw firsthand how beliefs about bodies, food, worthiness, and shame are passed from one generation to the next — often without anyone realizing it.
Something inside me stirred.
I realized I didn’t just want to break the generational patterns I inherited. I wanted to help others do the same.
Being fat in this healthcare system taught me how deeply people are harmed by systems that disconnect us from ourselves. The care I eventually received from my own mental health providers changed my life and ultimately brought me into the counseling profession with a deep passion for helping people reconnect with themselves, reclaim their humanity, and build lives rooted in values rather than punishment.
Today, I bring both clinical training and lived experience into the therapy room with deep respect for the complexity of being human.
A Liberatory and Relational Approach to Therapy
My work is deeply rooted in understanding the systems that shape us — including patriarchy, white supremacy, capitalism, diet culture, and the countless ways people are taught to disconnect from themselves in order to survive.
Therapy with me is not about “fixing” you.
It’s about building a therapeutic relationship strong enough to hold grief, anger, trauma, joy, uncertainty, laughter, healing, and growth. Together, we create space for curiosity, compassion, honesty, and new possibilities.
I use parts work, relational therapy, values exploration, and non-judgmental curiosity to help clients better understand themselves and begin writing new chapters for their lives.
I believe every body deserves access to mental healthcare that is relational, liberational, affirming, and just a little bit whimsical.
Areas of Clinical Focus
-
I specialize in supporting adults navigating Binge Eating Disorder, chronic body shame, disordered eating, and complicated relationships with food and body. Many of my clients come to therapy exhausted from years of dieting, self-monitoring, shame, or trying to force themselves into impossible standards.
Together, we work toward building a relationship with your body rooted in care, connection, and sustainability rather than punishment or control.
-
My work is deeply queer-affirming, trans-affirming, and identity-affirming. I enjoy supporting clients exploring identity, authenticity, relationships, belonging, and what it means to exist outside of restrictive societal expectations.
You do not need to edit yourself here.
-
I especially love working with moms who want something different for themselves and their children around food, bodies, self-worth, and emotional connection.
Many clients I work with are trying to interrupt cycles they inherited while also learning how to care for themselves in entirely new ways.
-
My work is grounded in honoring people as they are rather than forcing them into narrow definitions of “normal.” I enjoy working with neurodivergent clients navigating identity, overwhelm, masking, shame, relationships, burnout, sensory needs, and the many ways existing in a world not built for your brain can impact mental health.
You do not need to perform neurotypicality in this space. Bring your brain exactly as it is, and we’ll make it work together.
-
My work is kink affirming, and I strive to create a therapy space where clients do not feel pressured to shrink, censor, or explain parts of themselves in order to receive care. I approach therapy through a lens of curiosity, collaboration, and non-judgment, with the belief that healing happens when all parts of you are welcome in the room.
I work best with clients who want relational care where we can take our time exploring identity, values, relationships, and the systems that shape how we move through the world. Bring all of you, and we’ll figure out together what healing, connection, and authenticity can look like in your life.
-
I tend to work best with clients seeking relational, long-term therapy where we can move slowly, thoughtfully, and collaboratively.
I am probably not the best fit for clients looking for highly solution-focused, blunt, or fast-paced therapy. My approach values depth, relationship, curiosity, and creating enough safety for meaningful change to unfold over time.
What Therapy with Kristy Looks Like
One of the most important things to know about working with me is that there is no hierarchy in the therapy room.
You are the expert on your life and your lived experience. My role is to guide, support, challenge, and collaborate with you — not dictate who you should be or what your healing should look like.
Diagnosis and treatment planning are collaborative and shaped around what matters most to you.
I also want to know what you love.
Love Lord of the Rings? Great — let’s use it. Marvel? Horror movies? Dungeons & Dragons? Musical theater? Bring it all. Therapy works best when all parts of you are welcome in the room.
Sessions usually begin with checking in about the week and identifying what would feel most supportive for our time together. Some sessions may involve processing emotions or relationships, while others may focus on practicing skills, exploring patterns, sitting with hard feelings, or simply surviving difficult seasons of life.
I encourage clients to bring snacks, fidgets, blankets, comfort items, water bottles, or anything else that helps them feel grounded and supported during sessions.
At the end of our time together, I’ll do my best not to send you back into the world without helping you feel more regulated and connected than when you arrived. And yes — if homework feels supportive to you, I can absolutely give it. I promise never to grade it.
Training, Experience, and Clinical Foundations
My work is grounded in both clinical training and lived experience.
I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University and am a Certified Body Trust Provider® with continued training in Body Trust, DBT, eating disorders, ethics, parts work, and relational therapy.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent years teaching Kindergarten, working with new moms in fitness spaces, and navigating my own relationship with food, body image, and identity. Those experiences continue to shape the way I approach therapy today — with deep respect for complexity, humanity, humor, and relational care.
I am licensed in Washington State as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and also hold an Oregon Professional Counselor Limited Permit while pursuing full Oregon licensure.

What Keeps Me Joyful
I lead a chaotic, kid-filled life full of Disney magic, musical theater lyrics, books that make me cry, and endless attempts to tackle my ever-growing “to be read” pile.
When I’m not holding space for clients, I’m usually spending time with my blended family, planning future Disney trips, listening to Broadway soundtracks and 90s boy bands, or surrounded by stickers, stationery, fountain pens, and the beautiful messiness of everyday life.
A huge part of my joy comes from watching my children live loudly, authentically, and fully as themselves. They remind me constantly why this work matters.
I believe our stories matter deeply — and I feel honored every time someone trusts me enough to share theirs with me.
Clinical Supervision with Kristy
I also offer clinical supervision for therapists seeking a relational, collaborative, and values-driven supervision experience.
My approach to supervision mirrors the way I approach therapy: with curiosity, honesty, compassion, humor, and deep respect for the humanity of both clients and clinicians.
I especially enjoy supporting therapists interested in body liberation work, eating disorders, relational therapy, neurodivergence, queer and trans affirming care, and anti-oppressive frameworks.
