Kristy Ruesch-Fassio, LMHC

Pronouns: (She/Her)

Kristy is a Certified Body Trust Provider® and a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who considers herself someone who loves holding healing space for others. She earned a degree in Drama and a Masters in Teaching from the University of Washington, and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Therapy from Antioch New England. A former kindergarten teacher and pre- and post-natal fitness expert, Kristy uses her experience in teaching, fitness, and raising kids to bring deep empathy, care, knowledge, and laughter to her clients.

Kristy’s clinical experience is shaped from people who believe that healing comes through community and who taught her that we each know what we need, we just sometimes need someone to walk alongside us on the journey. She trusts that you know you better than she or anyone else ever can. Using several therapeutic modalities including parts work and narrative and person-centered therapy, Kristy creates relationships with her clients that make room for healing, growth, and radical self-love that allows for all of our parts to be seen and heard. She loves assisting clients in rediscovering how to move and live in their bodies in ways that feel authentic and sustainable. She has a special interest in working with clients with Binge Eating Disorder, and also enjoys working with clients with ADHD and diabetes.

Kristy works from a social justice, anti-racist, queer, and trans affirming viewpoint. She is fiercely fat celebratory while also recognizing that we live in a world that does not make living in fat bodies easy or accessible. She consistently seeks training from people with lived eating disorder experience to better create space for those that are often left out of more mainstream care.

The story of Kristy’s life includes 6 kids (three that she made and three bonus ones from her partner!), a magnificent fat body, a later in life coming out chapter, and a soft spot for Disney magic. Our stories are important, and Kristy spends time connecting with clients, learning their stories, and using their values to find ways through the messy parts of life.   When not with clients, Kristy can be found playing Pokémon Go with her big, blended family, planning her next Disney trip, listening to Broadway musicals and 90s boy bands, or rewatching Call the Midwife for the 17th time.
