Food & Body Liberation Support Group

A VIRTUAL SUPPORT GROUP FOR ADULTS READY TO BUILD A MORE PEACEFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH FOOD AND THEIR BODY.

You’re Not Alone in Wanting Freedom From Diet Culture

Are you tired of feeling ashamed of your body and how much time and energy has been spent on diets or “healthy lifestyle” plans?

Do you crave a peaceful relationship with food and your body but don’t know how to get there?

Do you wish you were part of a community that understands what it’s like to struggle with food and body image? A community who is committed to walking away from diets and weight loss plans?

If any of this resonates, you’re not alone. Many people are searching for ways to rebuild trust with their bodies and step outside of diet culture’s expectations. This group is designed to offer a supportive space to begin that process together.

Who This Group is For

Our 10-week virtual support group is designed for adults who are ready to stop living by diet culture’s rules and start listening to and trusting their body’s needs.

This group may be a good fit if you are:

• In recovery from an eating disorder, chronic dieting, or compulsive exercise
• Tired of trying to “fix” your body and ready to break up with diet culture
• Wanting a more peaceful relationship with food, body, and movement
• Interested in connecting with others who share similar goals around body liberation and healing

Participants must be 18 years or older.

What We’ll Explore Together

This group provides a non-judgmental space for connection, learning, and reflection around food and body liberation.

Together we will:

  • Explore diet culture and anti-fatness as systems of oppression

  • Identify personal barriers to food and body freedom

  • Practice skills for moving through body grief

  • Learn ways to approach health and self-care from a place of body trust

  • Share resources and support one another in a community setting

Each week includes a topic that guides discussion, reflection, and group conversation.

After participating in the group, many people report:

  • Feeling more accepting of and connected to their body

  • Greater ability to advocate for themselves in spaces where anti-fatness is present

  • More compassion and gratitude toward themselves

  • A deeper sense of community with others working toward food and body liberation

  • Feeling more resourced in navigating a world shaped by diet culture

Group Structure & Expectations

This group is primarily psychoeducational with elements of peer support. Each session includes a weekly theme that guides conversation and reflection.

Participants are encouraged to attend consistently to support group cohesion, though occasional absences are understandable.

Group members are welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable. Creating a respectful and confidential environment is an important part of the group experience, and these guidelines will be reviewed during the first session.

Participants joining the group while navigating active eating disorder recovery are encouraged to also have additional support in place, such as a therapist, medical provider, or dietitian.
